Announcing the first International Wildlife Coexistence Conference Call for Papers, Symposia, and Posters

The 2022 International Wildlife Coexistence Conference will be held October 17-20th at Chico Hot Springs Resort in Pray, Montana in Paradise Valley, followed by field trips on October 20-21st. We acknowledge and offer our respect to the Indigenous residents who lived in and traveled through this area for thousands of years including the Bannock, Blackfeet, Crow, Flathead, Kiowa, Nez Perce, Paiute, Umatilla, Salish and Kootenai, and Shoshone tribes.

Submission of abstracts and papers

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION CLOSED: This is a call for abstract and full paper submissions for presentation at the 2022 International Wildlife Coexistence Conference. All accepted submissions shall be published in the conference proceedings. 

Symposia proposals: We are accepting proposals for workshops or symposia corresponding to the conference theme or sub-themes.  

Important dates for submissions

  • Abstract for presentation submission due 31 May 2022  
  • Notification of acceptance 22 June 2022 
  • Final submission of abstract and presentation materials 30 September 2022 
  • Final submission of paper to be published in the conference proceedings 15 October 2022

Abstract and Paper submission 

Abstract submissions will be also accepted for a presenter who does not wish to publish in the conference’s proceedings. Abstracts will be sent to the conference committees for review.  

Authors must comply with the following instructions while submitting an abstract: 

Title of presentation (up to 15 words) 

Abstract of presentation (up to 200 words) 

Speaker name, affiliation, and email address 

List each co-author, affiliation and email address up to 8 co-authors.  

Guidelines for abstract submission 

Authors must comply with the following instructions while submitting abstracts online. 

  • All submission must be original (practical/field projects) or review and in line with the conference theme and sub-theme.  
  • Authors should include their names in the order of surname, first name and middle initial if applicable (as it will appear in the citations). 
  • Institutions of all the authors and co-authors should be written and indicated using number superscript (1,2,3). 
  • Corresponding authors should be indicated with an asterisk (*), with the provision of his/her email and phone number. 
  • The submission file must be in Microsoft word file format (docs, docx.) and uploaded by the May 31, 2022 deadline.   

Symposia/Workshop Proposal submission

The format of a typical symposium is 3-5 speakers. The symposium proposal is expected to provide a broad spectrum of the issue being addressed both scientifically and geographically. When possible, gender balance is encouraged in the speaker’s panels. Participating in a symposium does not preclude the submission of a presentation or a poster.

  • Final submission of symposia details and materials 23 September 2022

Virtual presentations, posters, art, photo, or video submission

Deadline for submission is 30 June 2022.

Virtual Presentations: Must be limited to between 5-10 minutes in length, submitted by 30 September 2022. 

Posters: Must be delivered in protective tube and no larger than 18 x 24 inches in size. Poster must include name, contact information and full description of project. Posters may be picked up after the conference but will not be shipped back to the presenter. Contact: Louise@wildlifecoexistence.orgfor the poster delivery address.

Art: Must be no more than a square cubic foot in size. Must include the name of the artist, full contact information and description of the piece. Art may be picked up at close of conference or it may be donated to the auction with proceeds going towards IWCN’s coexistence initiatives.  

Photo: Must be delivered in protective envelope and no larger than 18 x 24 inches in size including mat frame. Photo must include name, contact information and full description including location and species. Photos may be picked after the conference or may be donated to the auction with proceeds going towards IWCN’s coexistence initiatives.  

Video: Submissions must provide a working link to YouTube or Vimeo website address. Please include the videographer’s full name, contact information, and description of the video.
